Itsy Bitsy Spider…Is A Zebra!

Oh my! It’s been a whole year since I’ve blogged. So much has happened. There were two weddings in my immediate family. My youngest one graduated and set off for college in another state. (Tears!) I discovered that ducks will eat your entire garden, not just the bugs. (A funny story for a later date). I began a career as head cook at a local school. (Trust me it’s not as easy as it sounds). And, lastly, I had to give up painting full time for that necessary headache… health and dental insurance. But, the good news is I’m finally able to get back to the easel and paint.  🙂

There was also some sadness. My Quarter Horse stallion died as did my Pomeranian puppy. I had both animals (no not animals, they were a part of my family) for over 14 years. The pom made it to 101 in people years. That’s a long life. The house is eerily quiet without her.

I’m going to take this in baby steps so maybe I’ll be able to post more often. So, instead of 700 word ramblings, I’ll set my sights on short posts showing new artwork. Maybe, just maybe short posts might be more achievable.

Here are three zebra paintings that are currently listed for sale in my Daily Paint Works Gallery:

‘Amour de Zèbre’ (Zebra Love)

‘Amour de Zèbre’ (Zebra Love) began life as a sketch on an ACEO card in 2011. Five years later, I took the card out, looked at it and it finally clicked. An ‘aha’ moment. Zebra Love turned out very different from my original intentions. I found this coy, striped equine, seductively holding a rose in its mouth, irresistible.

Auction Notes: ‘Amour de Zèbre’ (Zebra Love) is a 3.5″ x 2.5″ ACEO art card created using acrylic paints and sepia ink.

‘Spider Zebra’

Itsy bitsy spider…is really a zebra! ‘Spider Zebra’ ACEO painting is drawn in India Ink. Watercolors give him a light, ethereal appearance.

Auction Notes: Each piece of my original artwork includes a COA (Certificate of Authenticity). All ACEO artwork comes in a baseball card sized plastic sleeve and is shipped in a sturdy mailer/envelope.

Also, a previous painting that I decided to list in my Daily Paint Works Gallery.

‘The Zebra Riddle’

Zebra1enh150wmk

After finishing this gal, (she is one of the Grevy zebra mares at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo) I had to take a break from painting all of her stripes. The painting went nameless for a week. Very unusual for me since I have a name in mind when I start to sketch the artwork.

Originally, all that popped into my head was an old AC/DC song. The nameless mare became sort of an enigma. A zebra riddle. What’s Black on White and Red All Over? My latest painting ‘The Zebra Riddle’ of course!

Auction Notes: ‘The Zebra Riddle’ is painted on a 6″ x 8″ x 3/4″ wrap around stretched canvas. The sides are painted as shown. Each piece of my original artwork includes a COA (Certificate of Authenticity). The painting comes ready to hang, using framing wire and eye screws, just hang on the wall and enjoy!

I’ve also been updating my Zazzle store purplehorse75 . Zazzle changed the way the banners (headers) for the store fronts looked, so it was back to Photoshop to create new ones. The new banners appear more professional. I liked how they turned out.

In 2015, I also opened 7 new Zazzle stores. Please visit my Zazzle stores by clicking on each button:

catabugs where you can find merchandise with my whimsical little Cat A Bug creatures on them

crowsandravens  for the crow collectors

kimlobergbuffalo  for the buffalo lovers

kimloberggiraffes for the collectors who are just as crazy about giraffes as I am 😉

kimlobergpronghorns for the pronghorn collectors

kimlobergzebras for all the zebra loving collectors of which I am also one 🙂

lobergwitchsblackcat where you can find my character The Witch’s Black Cat and follow him on many of his zany adventures!

More stores are in the works, but it takes time to get them up and running. (Guess I should be working on the computer more often instead of watching Supernatural in my free time).

Well, looks like I rambled on and on after all. Here’s hoping the New Year turns out wonderful for everyone!

Kim
